A recent article that is (unbelievably) in the sports section of the Miami Herald details what would appear to be some exciting news by A.R.E. Director John Van Auken. It seems he's planning on spending up to $50,000 of A.R.E money in an attempt to find some evidence of Atlantis in Gulf Stream waters west of Bimini:Van Auken said the explorers are expected to conduct as many as four deep-diving missions near Bimini in 2010. Van Auken expects to spend between $20,000 and $50,000, securing a large mothership as the mission base for dives using rebreathers, high-definition video and digital mapping equipment, and possibly a two-person submarine.....
Van Auken said previous explorations in the area -- some using high-tech methods such as sub-bottom profiling and side-scan sonar -- have shown ``unnatural features'' that appear to have been constructed by humans.....
Robert Carmichael, CEO of Brownie's Marine Group, based in Fort Lauderdale, is one of the leaders of the GUE expedition. While Carmichael doesn't exactly buy into the Atlantis theory, he and his colleagues have observed some of the ``unnatural features'' Van Auken mentioned -- long, curving sandy trails winding through the sides of steep, underwater cliffs 200 to 300 feet deep that look like mountain switchback trails or ski runs.''
``It's hard to think that would be naturally-occurring,'' Carmichael said. ``We need to go down there and measure the pathways and accurately survey them. There are some areas that look like terraces. There are buttressed caverns on the bottom of the wall. When we do have the opportunity to go back there, we'd like to poke into those caves at 220-300 feet deep to see if there's something in there...
The
first item that needs to be determined is whether Van Auken is looking
in the correct place. Should there be evidence of Atlantis on the sides of steep, underwater cliffs 200 to 300 feet deep west of Bimini in the Florida Straits? There is no doubt that the Gulf Stream and Bimini are mentioned as areas where evidence of Atlantis may be found:
There are some protruding
portions within this that must have at one time or another been a
portion of this great continent. The British West Indies or the
Bahamas, and a portion of same that may be seen in the present – if the
geological survey would be made in some of these – especially, or
notably, in Bimini and in the Gulf Stream through this vicinity, [emphasis added] these may be even yet determined.
(364-3; February 16, 1932)
This reading
mentions clearly that if a geologic survey would be made of these
areas- "especially or notably in Bimini", evidence of Atlantis may yet
be determined. THC has taken a step in this direction with the rock
cores that were drilled in the Bimini Inlet in March 2007. The results of rocks cored at shallow depth in the inlet are certainly suggestive of an age that fits with the Atlantis legend. Fossil coral
ages, as backed up by a C-14 date, indicate that a considerable
thickness of Pleistocene and Holocene strata is missing from the
near-surface geologic section beneath the Bimini Inlet. A reasonable
implication of these missing rocks is that, during a period of time
covering perhaps 800,000 years -- or a minimum of 120,000 years at the
least -- an ancient land surface in the Bimini area could have been
above sea-level during times of continental glaciations when ocean
water levels were depressed due to the oceanic water mass locked up in
ice sheets.That ancient land surface could have been the continent of Atlantis.
Also, the area of the Florida Straits due west of Bimini has recently been investigated by scientists with an Autonomous
Underwater Vehicles (AUV) and no evidence of Atlantis was found. Does
Van Auken believe he is able to find something they missed?Overlooking for the moment that Mr. Van Auken has chosen to look for evidence of Atlantis in one of the most implausible places in the Bimini area (ie, on the side of a 100+ foot cliff), and in one of the most dangerous and costly ways possible (i.e., with technical divers using exotic "mixed" gases), but he is rationalizing his activities by grossly mischaracterizing actual readings statements. Some of the statements attributed to Van Auken seem incomprehensible to me. For one of the Directors of A.R.E and (one would think), an expert in his knowledge of the Cayce readings, to make the following statements is unbelievable to put it mildly. This seems to be another example of Cayce researchers not actually comprehending what the Cayce readings say.
Here are a couple of quotes attributed to Van Auken:
- One of his [Cayce's] readings -- rendered while talking in his sleep -- was that Atlantis will rise near Bimini in 1969.
- From [Cayce's]
psychic, deep attunement to universal consciousness, he said one of the
key temples with 32 stone tablets is off the coast of Bimini at the
[edge] of the Gulf Stream...
Let’s examine each of these statements separately.
One of his readings -- rendered while talking in his sleep -- was that Atlantis will rise near Bimini in 1969. There is no reading that says Atlantis will rise near Bimini in 1969. There is, however, a reading that says Poseidia will be among the first portions of Atlantis to rise again in 1968 and 1969, but the reading does not mention Bimini in any way. Here is the quote in context: Before that the entity was in the Atlantean land during the period of the second breaking up, when the islands - or Poseida - became the main portion of the activities.....
In that experience the entity was among the children of the Law of One who accepted and forsook much of those activities because of its close associations and companionships with one of the sons of Belial.
This brought consternation to the entity, and also those influences, the application or use of which, brought destruction to the land. And Poseidia will be among the first portions of Atlantis to rise again. Expect it in sixty-eight and sixty-nine ('68 and '69); not so far away!

As you can see there is no mention of Bimini in this reading. What it does say is that Poseidia will be among the first portions of Atlantis to rise again and to expect this in 1968 and 1969. Clearly, we are not talking about an acre here or there rising, but rather hundreds or thousands of square miles of real estate is supposed to be on the move en masse. It would also appear that other portions of Atlantis will rise in this timeframe. And one needs to examine what is meant be the word rise. It may not necessarily mean rise to the surface.
Certainly this reading was not referring to the so-called Bimini Road rising to the surface. But this seems to be what Van Auken is referencing. While its true that the Bimini Road was discovered in 1968, it and the Bahama Bank that it sets on have not moved at all. In fact, according to marine geologists it is one of the most stable land masses on the planet. Furthermore, the Bimini Road has been proven to be naturally occurring beach rock and therefore is not manmade. Even Dr. Greg Little, one of the chief proponents of the Poseidia = Bimini hypothesis by way of the Bimini Road acknowledges in an article published by the Nassau Institute that the Bimini Road is not an artifact from Atlantis:
Dr. Little reports finding man-made artifacts at Bimini, including ancient stone anchors. At Andros he identified a submerged stone platform: "Overall, the evidence pointed to an obvious conclusion we have previously put forth - both the Bimini and Andros formations appear to be the remains of ancient harbours.
"During this trip, the evidence we found for human hands being involved with the formation of the Bimini Road is overwhelming and irrefutable (but) we do not assert that the timeframe for their use as harbours was 10,000-years ago. I doubt that the Bimini Road has anything to do with Atlantis. But it may relate to a circa 1,000-BC harbour."
So if even Dr. Little concedes that the Bimini Road has nothing to do with Atlantis, then the discovery of the Bimini Road in 1969 cannot be claimed as confirmation of Cayce reading 958-3, and one of the hallmark pieces of evidence tying Bimini to Poseidia collapses. Nothing was recorded to have risen to the surface in 1968 and 1969 anywhere in the Atlantic Ocean. So either this prediction failed or something rose somewhere else in the deep ocean floor of the Atlantic that was not detected. One of the other hallmark readings that is misinterpreted to tie Bimini to Poseidia is reading 996-12. In that reading Cayce was asked point-blank if Bimini was Poseidia. A simple "yes" or "no" would have solved the riddle. But for some curious reason Cayce's source does not answer the question in this manner. Why? GC: You will have before you the islands of North and South Bimini, and the submerged land adjacent to same.....
EC: Yes, we have the islands as are seen in the natural formations as are visible at the present time.....
(Q) Is this the continent known as Alta or Poseidia?
(A) A temple of the Poseidians was in a portion of this land.
(996-12; March 2, 1927)
It would seem that the simplest answer would be a resounding YES! If Bimini was once a part of Poseidia there can be no reason not to answer in this manner. But that's not what was uttered. Why would Cayce's source give an answer about a temple? That wasn't what the question was asking. On the other hand, perhaps he was giving the most complete answer. How? By referring to the only area of Bimini that had any connection to Poseidia (a temple), Cayce's source gives the best answer to the question posed. In other words, there was nothing about Bimini that related to Poseidia at all, except for a temple that had been built "in a portion of this land". Now, let's examine Van Auken's second statement.
From [Cayce's] psychic, deep attunement to universal consciousness, he said one of the key temples with 32 stone tablets is off the coast of Bimini at the [edge] of the Gulf Stream... Do any of the Cayce readings mention anywhere that 32 stone tablets are located off the coast of Bimini? None that I can find. The only relevant reading about 32 tablets is from the following: We find that the entity came into Egypt with the rest of the offspring of the Priest (later known as Ra-Ta) and his companion, from the Cascade - or from the Caspian and the Persian lands....
When there had been the regeneration of the Priest, and when the periods of change came about for this entity, when there was the passing from the active service in the Temple, - with the tenets and laws that had been a part of this entity's activity throughout its sojourn, - the activities or truths were prepared upon tablets and placed with the entity in the Tomb of Records.....
Apply self, then, to know much of those records written upon those tablets, that were a part of the entity's experience.
For, these were records made by the entity itself; preserved with the physical being of the entity....
(Q) Where are those records or tablets made of that Egyptian experience, which I might study?
(A) In the Tomb of Records, as indicated. For the entity's tomb then was a part of the Hall of Records, which has not yet been uncovered. It lies between - or along that entrance from the Sphinx to the temple - or the pyramid; in a pyramid, of course, of its own.
(Q) Through what channels of the Association for Research & Enlightenment may the entity gain the most?
(A) As it begins its further preparation and activity, seek through those channels for guidance - as it is felt that it is needed; or begin with the interpreting of the tablets. For, remember there are thirty-two of these plates!
(Q) Is it indicated as to when, approximately, these tablets may be discovered, or uncovered?
(A) By fifty-eight ('58).
(Q) How may I now find those records, or should I wait - or must I wait?
(A) You will find the records by that channel as indicated, as these may be obtained MENTALLY. As for the physical records, - it will be necessary to wait until the full time has come for the breaking up of much that has been in the nature of selfish motives in the world. For, remember, these records were made from the angle of WORLD movements. So must thy activities be in the present of the universal approach, but as applied to the individual.

This reading indicates that subject 2329 must wait to find the physical records. Why?
As for the physical records, - it will be necessary to wait until the full time has come for the breaking up of much that has been in the nature of selfish motives in the world.
I don't believe Van Auken realizes this. First it will be necessary to wait until selfish motives are largely eliminated in the world before the physical records can be found. I don't believe this has occurred yet. Until that happens, the records will not be found. Why? Apparently the records are so sacred that certain measures or safeguards were taken by the builders to insure that they will only be discovered at a time when financial gain or other selfish motives are no longer a consideration.
For, remember, these records were made from the angle of WORLD movements. So must thy activities be in the present of the universal approach, but as applied to the individual.
So what safeguarding measures were taken by the builders of the pyramids/Hall of Records to prevent the records from falling into the wrong hands?
This [temple] in position lies, as the sun rises from the waters, the line of the shadow (or light) falls between the paws of the Sphinx, that was later set as the sentinel or guard, and which may not be entered from the connecting chambers from the Sphinx's paw (right paw) until the TIME has been fulfilled when the changes must be active in this sphere of man's experience.

With the storehouse, or record house (where the records are still to be uncovered), there is a chamber or passage from the right forepaw to this entrance of the record chamber, or record tomb. This may not be entered without an understanding, for those that were left as guards may NOT be passed until after a period of their regeneration in the Mount, or the fifth root race begins.
(5748-6; July 1, 1932) Reading the above highlighted and bold-faced type we can put together the following:
[The] passage from the right forepaw [of the Sphinx] to this entrance of the record tomb may not be entered without an understanding, for those that were left as guards may NOT be passed until the fifth root race begins.
Apparently a new race of people will populate the world who will have a better understanding of the importance of these records. This sounds like a world that may be decimated by a pole shift and the people who are left have a new understanding, a new approach, a universal approach, rather than a selfish one. But when? And who are the guards that were left to insure this? Reading 378-16 clearly states that the Sphinx was later set as the sentinel or guard....How was this accomplished? Perhaps reading 5748-5 reveals a clue:Then, with Hermes and Ra (those that assumed or took up the work of Araaraart) there began the building of that now called Gizeh, with which those prophecies that had been in the Temple of Records and the Temple Beautiful were builded, in the building of this that was to be the hall of the initiates of that sometimes referred to as the White Brotherhood.....
This, then, receives all the records from the beginnings of that given by the priest, Arart, Araaraart and Ra, to that period when there is to be the change in the earth's position and the return of the Great Initiate to that and other lands for the folding up of those prophecies that are depicted there.
(Q) What corrections [in the Great Pyramid are] for the period of the 20th century?
(A) Only those that there will be an upheaval in '36.
(Q) Do you mean there will be an upheaval in '36 as recorded in the pyramid?
(A) As recorded in the pyramid, though this is set for a correction, which, as has been given, is between '32 AND '38 - the correction would be, for this - as seen - is '36 - for it is in many - these run from specific days; for, as has been seen, there are periods when even the hour, day, year, place, country, nation, town, and individuals are pointed out. That's how correct are many of those prophecies as made.
Oft may there be changes that bring periods, as seen in that period when there was an alteration in that initiate in the land of Zu and Ra that BROUGHT a change, but at a different point because of being driven by those that were set as the guides or guards of same.

In entering from the astrological aspects, or from the numerological aspects, we find these somewhat confusing - were a parallel drawn, or an application made of that which might be drawn from such purely astrological or numerological charts. Yet these forces and influences have much, or will have much to do in the experience of the entity during the present sojourn. The more the entity would comprehend the same, the more they may be used as steppingstones in the application of self in its own entity and soul development.
In an experience in the earth's plane each soul should gain the knowledge of those forces, conditions or experiences that may influence an entity, a soul, the more. And not only have the knowledge or understanding of such influence but know that the influences are as guides, signposts, conditions....
As to what the entity may do respecting its soul or spiritual development depends upon the application of the knowledge and understanding, and as to whether or not the trust and the ideal is put in those influences that may guide, guard and keep the soul in the way of the Lamb.
(476-1; January 3, 1934) So one could speculate from the above reading that the builder of the pyramids and the Hall of Records (Ra-Ta) was so knowledgeable about the influences of the stars on mankind that he was able to calculate at what position the stars or constellations would be when the pole shift occurs that ends the prophecies contained within those structures. At that time, the secrets of the various pyramids could then safely be revealed to a new race of people with the proper understanding. He would protect this knowledge by working out (through his knowledge of astrological influences) when the world would be ready to receive this knowledge and what the astrological influences would be at that time. Ra-Ta's use of his knowledge of the stars in the building of the pyramids is supported in two readings:
Then began the laying out of the pyramid and the building of same…..This building, as we find, lasted for a period of what is termed now as one hundred years. It was formed according to that which had been worked out by Ra-Ta in the mount as related to the position of the various stars….

At the correct time accurate imaginary lines can be drawn from the opening of the great Pyramid to the second star in the Great Dipper, called Polaris or the North Star. This indicates it is the system toward which the soul takes its flight after having completed its sojourn through this solar system. In October there will be seen the first variation in the position of the polar star in relation to the lines from the Great Pyramid. The dipper is gradually changing, and when this change becomes noticeable - as might be calculated from the Pyramid - there will be the beginning of the change in the races. There will come a greater influx of souls from the Atlantean, Lemurian, La, Ur or Da civilizations......
This may not be entered without an understanding, for those that were left as guards may NOT be passed until after a period of their regeneration in the Mount, or the fifth root race begins.

So if we assume that
astrological influences were set as the guards of these records, how
does this relate to the Sphinx? How was the Sphinx set as the "sentinel
or guard" astrologically speaking? This temple of records after all, ....may not be entered from the connecting chambers from the Sphinx's paw (right paw) until the TIME has been fulfilled when the changes must be active in this sphere of man's experience.
Does the Sphinx, with the head of a man and the body of a lion,
indicate the time which must be fulfilled? Western astrologers, who
give primary importance to the Vernal Equinox, say we are currently in
the Piscean Age with the Aquarian Age fast approaching. In India, some
astrologers give primary importance to the Autumnal Equinox. There is
mounting evidence that the sign indicated by the Autumnal Equinox is
the primary influence on mankind. If true, mankind is currently near
the end of the Age of Virgo (the opposite sign of Pisces and marked by
rapid scientific development) and the Age of Leo
is fast approaching. Leo is represented astrologically by the lion. The Sphinx, with the head of a man and
the body of a lion has its eyes gazing due east. It looks directly at
the Sun on the two days of the year of the equinox. One day, in the not
too distant future, on the Autumnal Equinox, the Sphinx will be gazing
at its astrological equivilent, the constellation Leo. Is this the
indication that the time has been fulfilled and the guards may now be
passed?
In summary, we may conclude that none of these records can be found until the time is right and the world has come to a new understanding and the stars or astrological influences are aligned properly to indicate that the fifth root race has begun. Has that happened? Until that TIME has been fulfilled the guards may not be passed to the entrance of the record tomb where subject 2329's 32 tablets are kept. Does Van Auken realize this?
All that aside, there is nothing in reading 2329-3 that suggests that these 32 stone plates are physically located anywhere but in Egypt. There is no reading that refers to them being transported to Bimini. How could these 32 tablets end up in seawater near Bimini when they were placed with the entity in the Tomb of Records in Egypt? They were preserved with the physical being of the entity.
The only reading (5750-1) that states that the three locations containing the records of Atlantis are ONE, does not mention Bimini as one of those locations. Even if it did, I suspect only the information contained in all three places would be identical, not every artifact, scroll and tablet contained therein. It is the information that is identical, not the form that it is recorded on.
It appears that John Van Auken could use a little psychic, deep attunement to the Cayce readings himself, as he squanders A.R.E.'s resources filming underwater switchback trails or ski runs and as he films high-definition videos of his submarine rides off the western coast of Bimini. |
